Olive wood and ceramics from Bethlehem
Bethlehem has carved olive wood for centuries, using prunings from trees that keep on growing. Every grain pattern is different, which is why no two pieces match. The ceramics are thrown and painted by hand, most often in the blues and greens of Hebron and Jerusalem workshops. Both crafts are slow, and both are taught inside families rather than in schools.
